WHAT IS RCIA?
Becoming Catholic is a big step. It takes time and careful consideration. To help, the Catholic church has a process called Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, more commonly known as "R.C.I.A." This process involves different stages. Each stage is designed to assist in deciding whether this is the right choice for you.

Stages:

The RCIA begins with a period of INQUIRY & MATURING. This is a time for hearing the first preaching of the Gospel and of prayer. The end of this period is marked by the first stage or step which is celebrated by the whole community: The Rite of Becoming A Catechumen.
The second period is called the CATECHUMENATE. This is a time of more intense preaching and teaching of the Gospel, prayer, spiritual direction, catechesis - the handing on the specific Roman Catholic traditions and personal contact with members of the larger Christian community. This period ends with "The Rite of Election" when the catechumens are ready to respond totally to God's call of faith through the sacraments of initiation, Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
The third period takes place during Lent. It is a TIME OF PURIFICATION & ENLIGHTENMENT/ILLUMINATION for a more profound spiritual preparation. Its focus and conclusion is the Easter Vigil celebration and the sacraments of initiation.
The final period takes place during the EASTER SEASON. The newly baptized are able to deepen their experience of the sacraments and of being new members of the Christian community.

RCIA helps foster growth in a personal relationship with God. It also introduces you to the Catholic tradition of the Christian faith. It involves meeting once a week with a small group of adults who are on a similar journey, in an atmosphere of trust and respect. OUR PROGRAM
We use a program by FORMED called "Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained". Symbolon is a systematic presentation of our Catholic Faith. It will lead you through the "big picture" of the Catholic Faith and our Creed is the guide. Symbolon brings together some of the most trusted Catholic teachers in the world to guide you through the breadth and richness of the Catholic faith.
